Hey guys! 

It’s been… way longer than I expected (unless you also play Homecoming, than it’s only been a month, hah). When we finished the last update in August of last year, I never expected the following build would come half a year later. But Homecoming took a lot of time, and real life always has a habit of getting in the way.

However, maybe this long wait was for the best… This might be my favorite update I’ve ever worked on in the history of Santa Lucia’s development.

I did not one, not two, not three, not four but FIVE whole CGs for this build (technically, six but you’ll see in-game). I worked almost every day for like 10 hours the entire month of January trying to finish everything on time, and I don’t regret it one bit.

Everything came together so well, I’m proud of the work we did. I really hope you guys will like it as much as I did working on the game. I also wrote the Russell-focused side story and did a CG for it. I think Russell fans are REALLY going to like what they find in there, hehe.

Aside from that, I was able to squeeze in a new sprite for Professor Dubois. I’d like to have Shay and Diego’s new sprites done for the public release, that way I can start work on the next update fresh.

This update marks the finale for Carlos’ route. The tiger’s story was quite a journey to embark on, and I think the final legs of it are going to take you all in directions you might not have expected. I truly, sincerely hope you guys will love what you play, and you’ll cherish the time spent with our big, lovable tiger. If there’s anything I can say, it’s that it’s going to be a real rollercoaster. Fun fact, if you include the side-story, this build is our longest update ever, and that’s counting Build 1 as well. I’d like to say it was worth the wait!

Our next update will focus back on Nate, who has been waiting patiently for his turn. The next build shouldn’t take anywhere as long as this update did, so I hope you’ll stay tuned and stay with us as we embark on another route in our itinerary, hehe. The fox has plenty of hidden depths, and we can’t wait to uncover them with you all.

Hey everyone.

It feels good to say this, but new year new leaf turned. I think I’m back!

We didn’t manage to get this build out by the January 20th like originally planned, but I think the output we have this time more than justifies the wait. The combined total number of words here is the largest amount we’ve ever delivered in a single build, including our original debut! The final total added up to somewhere in the wheelhouse of 25,000 words! I finally managed to find a system that works for me, that gets me in the zone to write. I’m really excited to see how far this burst of inspiration is going to go!

As for today’s build, we have the conclusion to Carlos’s Act 3 content (and for the most part, as I’ve stated previously, finishing Act 3 means it’s the end of the character’s route content). Equal parts heartwarming, tear jerking, steaming hot, and maybe even a little controversial, we’re starting off 2025 guns blazing! I can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks about it!

Dev worked his ass off for this build, showing that he might be a bit of a workaholic in all honesty! One CG in particular this build has so many moving parts, I’ve compared learning how to code it into the game properly to learning how to play an instrument. The special scene this build is by far my favorite we’ve ever worked on, and I’m extremely proud with how it came out. In fact, the special scene in question totals to about 8000 words all on its own, haha!

Next build marks the start of Nate’s Act 3 content. With all the myriad twists and turns we’ve already demonstrated in the previous two routes, I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys think about what truly lies beneath our friendly fox’s mask...

Build 52 Notes:

+ Carlos route conclusion: Oct 25, 26, 27, 28, & 29

+ 5 new CG sets

+ 1 new side story and associated CG (A Private Show)

  • Unlock condition: Finish Oct 3 (Zach’s birthday party) on any route

+ Removed “2018” from the daily opening cards. My reasoning: I find as the years of development go on, and the further we get from 2018, the more SL starts to come across as a period piece. This was never my intent during development, so I’m taking a step to rectify this potential issue before it gets out of hand. SL is meant to feel like it is taking place in #CurrentYear lol

+ Finished Sierra sprite

+ Revamped Dr. Dubois sprite

+ Replaced Russell’s apartment background

+ New password added to unlock all side stories (“Oracle”)
