"Santa Lucia" Build 20 Now Available!




Hey everyone!

This month we’ve got our second update for Carlos’s route. Like I said last month, I wasn’t satisfied with the time skip we originally went with and had several topics I wanted to cover still. This should hopefully make the route a lot less jarring as well as provide some interesting moments for character development.

As the two new days are before what we had already written for his last update, I highly recommend starting a fresh save from September 8th in the chapter select screen if you want to read the new content. All you need to do is start from that chapter, skip forward to the branch, then select Carlos to spend time with. You may have to skip forward a bit more, but you’ll know you’ve reached the new content when you see September 10th, 2018.

Along with the writing, we’ve completely revamped Carlos’s sprite. There were many problems and oddities with the original we discovered over time, so we decided to give him a fresh coat of paint in honor of his latest build. Dev is extremely proud of how it came out, and so am I. I hope you guys enjoy Carlos’s new look!

Next month we begin work on Nate’s route content. While poor Nate has had to wait the longest to receive an update, he also gets the benefit of having many many structural kinks worked out ahead of time by having the other two have turns ahead of him. I anticipate the writing should go a lot smoother for our favorite fox now that we’re starting to find a proper rhythm.

And with that, I think that’s about all I want to cover.

Hey guys!

Build 20, huh?  Time really flies.

This one took a bit out of me, especially towards the end, mainly due to just how much work Carlos’s sprite rework turned out to be.

Turns out our grumpy little tiger has a lot of variations. A lot. And somehow, despite being the one who made the dang thing, the number kinda slipped my mind. This is the reason for the slight delay for this month’s update, hehe.

Unfortunately, that also means Chris got the bench this month again, but that does not mean I have not been working on him either. In fact, I’ve been thinking about splitting his excited sprite in two different expressions (the current one, while liked by a lot of people, has never sat completely right with me for some reason). So I effectively doubled my workload in one go, and since Chris probably has more variations than Carlos does, and add to that Photoshop not being the most cooperative piece of software out there...

Well, you get the picture, hehe. I hope you guys will enjoy his new look! I kept him as faithful to the original as possible, while improving… everything, I’d say. Be sure to leave your feedback!

Next month will be Nate’s turn in the spotlight, and I have to say I’m looking forward to it!

You mean that look like he lose a lot of weight so because that his head look some more skeleticic?

yea, i actually liked his sprite in previous builds more then this recent update, also his head looked a bit misshapen, but that's probably just me looking into it a bit too much, (another thing, i really enjoyed his figure, its like he had the good kind of dad bod)

Hey, sorry I didn't notice this thread beforehand as I tend to get most of the art feedback on our discord.

I'll definitely look more into it once I have more time. I will say new Carlos is a lot closer to the actual vision I had for him way back when, I just did not have the skills to pull it off (once you see the mistakes of the old sprite, it's hard to not notice them haha).

I realize it may be tough to adjust after seeing him one way for more than a year and a half, but I do believe the new sprites are all for the better. I do appreciate any and all feedback, though!
